Operation Back to School: How to hide your new LEGO set from nosy kids
The house is finally quiet, school is back in session, and you've just clicked 'Order' on that impressive 4,000-piece set you've been eyeing since May. There's only one problem: kids have an uncanny nose for packages that land on the doorstep. (Especially if they're LEGO orders)
If your kids spot that box, your peaceful me-time will transform into a chaotic management of sticky fingers, dropped bricks, wrongly placed stickers, and missing building instructions.
Protect your me-time set with these undercover tactics from Brickworld.be:
1. Go High
Children only look at eye level or at the ground. They will rarely keep an eye on the highest shelf from a distance. Store your set on the top shelf, hidden behind the winter duvets that you only bring out again in November.
2. The Decoy Box Trick
Open the delivery box immediately upon receipt, leave the LEGO set at the bottom, and fill the space above it completely with 'healthy' snacks. A few packs of Sultana biscuits, bags of raisins, and wholemeal crackers work wonders. Should a curious child peek over the edge, they'll only see things that instantly make them lose their appetite. Mission 'Save My LEGO Time' accomplished!
3. The "Big Clean-Up" Deterrent Effect
Children have a built-in allergy to anything resembling household chores. Immediately after delivery, stick a prominent sticker on the box with text like “Spare Parts Descaler & Vacuum Cleaner Filters”. Place the box prominently in the hallway; they are guaranteed to walk around it in a huge arc for fear of having to help.
P.S: If you go for this idea, be sure to let us know. Then we'll pack your order as incognito as possible!
4. The Laundry Basket Tactic
Throw your fresh LEGO box directly into the bottom of the laundry basket and cover it with a pile of dirty sports clothes or that mountain of ironing that's been waiting for two weeks. Children avoid the laundry basket as if it were a minefield. Especially if their clothes aren't in it! As long as your precious set is under a few socks and pajamas, it's 100% invisible.
